This was almost lost in the flurry of news about the Libby Verdicts yesterday, but it certainly deserves some attention.  The Justice Department really took it on the chin, thanks to some strong testimony from several former U.S. Attorneys, including Arkansan, Bud Cummins.

Looking back over…

Looking back over today’s testimony what stands out aren’t just the big lies that have been alleged but the small ones. In particular I’m thinking about cases in which Justice Department appointees said one thing only to have one or more of the US Attorneys come back and say the statements were simply false. For instance, William E. Moschella, Principal Associate Deputy Attorney General said [..]

Wilson On Libby

March 7, 2007 · Leave a Comment

Joe Wilson made the rounds last night, appearing on a string of cable programs.  We’ll defer to Keith Olbermann’s interview, since it was the first one. Wilson, in my humble observation, comes across as measured in his comments.  Certainly not outwardly gloating over Libby’s 4-for-5 conviction rate.

Wilson: My Wife Wept When She Heard The Verdict

Ambassador Joseph Wilson conducted his first post-verdict interview tonight with MSNBC’s Keith Olbermann. Wilson described the reactions of he and his wife to the news, detailed how the CIA is currently holding up the publication of his wife’s book, and explained why the Bush administration should recuse itself from pardon proceedings and leave those decisions [...]

UPDATE: So, how about Libby’s sentence?

Scooter Libby’s Sentencing Guidelines

Now that Scooter Libby has been convicted of four of five counts, what sentence is he likely to receive? First off, for non-lawyers, the 25 years you hear about are not what he will get. They are the maximum sentence authorized by statute. The maximum sentence for obstruction is 10 years; false statements and perjury, 5 years. In reality, sentences are based on the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines. Until a few years ago when [...]

The New York Times spares no strong words in talking about the Walter Reed Hospital story –

"Fundamental responsibility" for Walter Reed lies with Bush and Rumsfeld

Today’s NY Times editorial on Walter Reed eviscerates George Bush for his overall role in that scandal, the lies about supporting the troops and the disaster that is the Iraq war. Says so much in just a few succinct paragraphs: "There is plenty of blame to go around. Officials at Walter Reed were egregiously negligent. The Army’s high command, and the Joint Chiefs above them, were too weak-kneed or obtuse to demand adequate resources for medical care — just as they were too fearful for their own careers to [...]

Oh, man!  Much ado about nothing, I must say!

Incredible. CNN’s Paula…

Incredible. CNN’s Paula Zahn, MSNBC’s Chris Matthews, and ABC News have all now covered the Hillary "drawl" story that Matt Drudge pushed yesterday. And guess how many of these shows shared with their viewers the simple context that would have [...]

And, it’s a good one.  Courtesy of the fine folks at MicCheckRadio!  The site is free, but you do have to register for full access. It’s worth the thirty seconds it takes!

I found it very interesting how the executive director describes the programs. He says quote…these programs…he says the he says the programs…the programs quote…the program quote…heh…does not…he has a little trouble with the English. (laughter) And so do I. Describes this as an initiative that quote ‘does not emphasize classroom and textbook learning.’ That’s my kind of program.”
