Pretty impressive..
This is a big deal. Glenn Greenwald’s book A Tragic Legacy: How a Good vs. Evil Mentality Destroyed the Bush Presidency debuted today on the New York Times hardcover bestseller list at #31. This is a big deal, something that everyone who bought the book online can feel proud of — with almost [...]

There’s nothing like it. I’ve really enjoyed reading through the rightwing bloggers, who are quick to point out that the Live Earth concerts were poorly attended in spots because it’s "too cold" (irony?). Well, maybe it’s a new world out there, friends. A new world.
Reuters reports that Microsoft Corp’s Web portal MSN said today that LIVE EARTH’s internet[s] streaming “broke a record for an online entertainment show by generating more than 9 million Internet streams.” As the last two of the nine Live Earth concerts got underway, MSN product manager Karin Muskopf said the number of streams had surpassed [...]

It’s all politics. Plain and simple…
This morning, the Weekly Standard’s Bill Kristol — who accurately predicted the President’s decision to commute Libby’s sentence — suggested the order was timed to provide political cover for the decision by attacking President Clinton. “Here’s why the president acted the way he did. He knew Bill Clinton was joining Hillary in Iowa on July [...]

Pretty striking statements, IMHO.
Former Secretary of State Colin Powell revealed that he spent 2.5 hours “vainly trying to persuade President George W. Bush not to invade Iraq and believes today’s conflict cannot be resolved by U.S. forces. ‘I tried to avoid this war,’ Powell said at the Aspen Ideas Festival in Colorado. ‘I took him through the consequences [...]
UPDATE: Some bloggers (especially this one over at Daily Kos) are NOT impressed..

Yet I remained a [...]

In addition to the one directly below. I’m sure glad somebody had time to dig through the major papers today…
It was a good day for the New York Times. They finally came out forcefully for a withdrawal from Iraq and their public editor exposed their sloppy reporting on Al Qeada in Iraq. It’s not often that the press throws a wet towel over the distortions of the Bush administration. The Times gave them the full treatment today. It’s another sign of a cratering presidency [....]

It’s been one of those nonstop weekend, filled with friends and family coming in and out of the house. But, it was all good, thanks (in part) to Saturday’s visit to the farmers’ market and our finding the best sweet corn and tomatoes to date! I’m a happy camper after a fresh BLT and corn for dinner tonight! Settled in post-supper to scan some of my favorite blogs and ran into a really interesting one from right here in Arkansas. The Arkansas Times (a decidedly anti-Bush publication) looks ahead to a big event in Little Rock:
I heard last night that Obama, Hillary Clinton and Bill Clinton are all confirmed particpants in the Little Rock School Crisis 50th in late September. Still no confirmation from President George W. Bush. The betting line today is that he won’t come. The thinking is that he wouldn’t want to [...]
