I doubt many of you read the comments that are posted (infrequently) here. I’m bumping one up tonight, because it really is interesting. A bit conspiratorial. But fascinating.
Why Bush Used 36 in last Night’s Speech.
Don’t reach for the tin foil hat just yet. This is a demonstration of the truth. Want to know the true significance of the number 36 in Bush’s speech? There obviously are not 36 countries fighting in "Babble on." So why did our Bonesman President use it in his speech last night? 36 is the [...]

Just a little something to wrap up your weekend.
She’s not even a major talk show host, but Contessa made Jim Dyke, (an advisor to Rudy) look like a fool. Giuliani is trying to fund raise and blur the problems for the GOP over the Iraq war by targeting MoveOn and Gen. Petraeus, but seemingly unknown to his camp, 52% of Americans have [...]

O.J.’s in trouble. Again.
A conviction on the most serious charge, robbery with use of a deadly weapon, could bring a sentence of three to 35 years for each count, he said. Simpson was transferred to a detention center for booking Sunday evening, Dillon said. "He was [...]

Yet another opinion…
At the White House, the president has got to be muttering "some friend" when he pores over the new autobio from his old buddy Vicente Fox, Mexico’s former leader. That’s because Fox raps his border pal as stubborn and "the cockiest guy I have ever met in my life." Revolution of Hope, out next month, is a well-written, well-researched book about [...]

Some thoughts from the past…
The Clinton economy of the 90’s was the doppleganger of the Bush economy. It existed to solve the same problems that the Bush economy attempted to solve. The first was labor arbitrage, which was not invented in 2000. Labor arbitrage helped keep inflation under control – the US imported goods from low cost domiciles after [...]

Greenspan was on 60 Minutes. His book is coming out. And the Washington Post talked with him earlier.
Look at all the water carriers starting to fall by the wayside… WaPo: By the end of last year, Greenspan writes with some bitterness, Washington was “harboring a dysfunctional government. . . . Governance has become dangerously dysfunctional.” However, he calls Clinton a “risk taker” who had shown a “preference for dealing in facts,” and presents Clinton [...]

Here’s the nominee..
Chasing Attorney General rumors has proven to be rather pointless. Initially, Department of Homeland Security chief Michael Chertoff was practically already prepping for his confirmation hearings. Then, the White House leaked a short list, sans Chertoff, and Ted Olson was the likely nominee. Now we have a new front-runner for the job: Michael Mukasey, a former [...]

It’s getting tough to rent in some cities. This truly is a crisis that many seem to be ignoring..
I’ve been wondering when the other shoe would drop with the housing crisis and the media would get around to writing about the other housing crisis: Affordable Rentals. As the caption on the graphic below says, the “Shortage of affordable rentals in cities dwarfs issue of rising foreclosures.” Ask anyone who lives in a large city, [...]

Well, Arkansas tried. They really did. But came up three points short in last night’s game at Alabama. Still, it was a great football game. Alabama jumped out to a 21-0 lead early in the game. VERY early. But the Hogs came back and should have/could have won it. I did make one discovery – ESPN.COM offers free live streaming video of certain games (if you’re an AT&T broadband customer). My better half was so discouraged with the early performance of the Hogs that she refused to watch it on TV. I let her channel surf and logged onto ESPN with the laptop. The video was smooth and consistent. No problems in watching it that way. The online video stuff has really come a long way in just a few years. There IS a future for it. Really. Now, sipping coffee this morning, scanning the overwhelming amount of stuff in my bloglines, one snagged my attention early. Hat tip to the folks over at AMERICAblog for finding it..
I think Newt is exactly what the GOP needs in this presidential campaign. It’s just not crazy enough or far-right enough nor has it properly alienated enough people so it’s about time they find a serious divider who can push the party over the edge and into a ravine. With all of the leading candidates doing their best to talk about the successful war in Iraq, Gingrich would spice up [...]
