A blogger who goes by the name of Papamoka has a great Veterans’ Day post.

Veterans Day 2007

For most people this day is just another day and it should and should not be that way. In one respect the service of our military is in service to our people so that our society may continue as a whole. There are no guarantees in America but there is the right to voice your opinions in protest of war. In the other respect, many men and woman in our military have died to make our lives what they are today and should not be forgotten. Many more have survived battle only to be lost and forgotten as [...]

What George Orwell and Gordon Brown Don’t Know

Gordon, you’re not a team player: . White House upset that Brown is not war-mongering The Bush administration is reportedly “losing patience with Gordon Brown over Iran, with senior American diplomats frustrated by his reluctance to declare bluntly that the Islamic state must never be allowed nuclear weapons.” A State Department official says: “It would be helpful [...]

Are you suprised?

Black military enlistment drops under Bush.

America’s Current Situation

There has been a string of posts along this line of reasoning lately.  For good reason, too: Our perilous economic and political postition.

Veterans’ Day

It is Veterans’ Day.  It’s too bad that the news, for some of them, isn’t better.

Kennedy, Cleland: Stop Messing with Vets’ Jobs

Tens of thousands of Guardsmen and Reservists are getting shafted by their bosses, when they get home from Afghanistan and Iraq. “Since 9/11, nearly 11,000 National Guard and Reserve troops have been denied prompt reemployment. 20,000 service men and [...]

Sunday Morning

November 11, 2007 · Leave a Comment

Watching a bit of the Sunday talkers.  Obama seemed to be really trying to walk a political line on Meet The Press.  On Fox, Chris Wallace was absolutely apoplectic when Richardson kept trying to insist Iraq is still a quagmire and he’ll bring everybody home.  Wallace kept pointing to recent casualty numbers as a sign the surge is working;  Richardson kept saying the big picture, politically, is still very bad.

In the papers, there’s still a  lot of attention on the Mukasey vote…

Schumer gets pummeled by NYT over Mukasey

And Schumer deserves it. I’m sick of Democrats issuing pseudo-lofty statements about saving the nation in order to rationalize why they continually cave to Bush. If the Democrats want to save the nation, stop caving to Bush [...]
