Another Long Holiday Weekend

At least it will be an extended one for many people. Around these parts, a lot of folks took Wednesday through Friday off after Christmas and many tossed in New Year’s Eve, just for good measure. Given that fact, look for posts to be light for a few days, not that we’re gearing up for a big party. Quite the contrary, for sure. The New Year has been rung in early and quietly around our house for several years now, although we enjoy phone conversations with old friends, reminiscing about the days when we DID go out on the town and ring in the New Year the proper way!

It’s a “downer” Friday. Most of the family is suffering from whatever this cough/sneeze/fever thing that’s been going around. And most of the news is depressing. Including (surprised?) the economy. Here’s your quote of the day:

Words from a registered Republican. With new polls pointing towards the economy and health care as the key issues for 2008, the GOP is in trouble. Americans trust the Democrats more than the Republicans on these issues. The question now, is which Democrat do we believe will [...]
