I’m a photographer by hobby, and a transplanted Northerner. So, when I stumbled on this link to some spectacular photography showcasing one of the tragedies of the North, I was fascinated. It’s not an uplifting set of photos, but remarkably intriguing. Partially so, I would guess, because I can see similar images not far from where I grew up in Iowa. They also reminded me of just how cold it is up there, this time of year. It’s a world of black and white, snow on the ground, leaf-less trees silhouetted against a cloudy sky. Spend a few minutes with these photos. They speak volumes about the rural north and those who still live there.
