Oscar Night

February 24, 2008 · Leave a Comment

Okay, so the Oscar ceremony is on TV. We just finished a great spaghetti dinner and located a lost puppy! That’s right, the little pup our daughter and fiance have managed to get through a hole somewhere in the back fence. He managed to get himself back to the front of our house, after getting out who-knows-where. At least he’s safe. And, I have my work cut out for me next weekend, walking the back fences, patching every little hole that might exist. Whew. I’m just glad he’s back.

And, apparently, Bloglines is dead. Still no new posts, but a quick check of some blogs shows they have posts. They just aren’t showing up in Bloglines. I’m, honestly, too tired to try to chase them down individually. I’ll catch on the morrow…

Promise.

Slow Sunday

February 24, 2008 · Leave a Comment

I haven’t seen such a slow day, news-wise, for a long time. I scan through Bloglines every time I walk past the computer, but there simply are no new articles! I have some family things to handle that will occupy much of the remainder of the afternoon, dog baths and grooming, kids coming for an impromptu spaghetti supper (thanks to locally grown spring mix and lettuce, heirloom tomatoes, fresh whole wheat pasta and a couple of pounds of hormone-free ground beef via the “Basket of the Month” program that I’ve written about before.)

I’ll try to keep an eye on things, along the way. But, for now, just go and enjoy your family, friends and wherever you call home.

The Democratic Campaigns

February 24, 2008 · Leave a Comment

Clinton and Obama are throwing allegations back and forth so fast that some just aren’t making much sense. That’s not a good thing, unless you want to throw voters toward McCain. When you confuse those who should be in your corner, it’s time to pull back and start doing some straight talk with facts and figures, not just random allegations.

Obama and NAFTA

Why is Barack Obama attacking Hillary Clinton on NAFTA when his voting record on trade since he’s been in the Senate is essentially identical to Clinton’s voting record on trade? Obama went on record that he was supporting NAFTA expansion months ago. In fact, as David Sirota reported at the time, Obama was “the first presidential candidate to officially [...]

This made my morning! If you sometimes question the fairness of Fox News (and who doesn’t?)…ya just gotta take one minute to watch…

Open Thread: Comedian Rips FOX: ‘a parade of propaganda’

Comedian Lee Camp was on Fox & Friends Saturday morning and was discussing the lameness that is the Mike Huckabee campaign with a conservative comedian. Yes, they do exist. As the short segment came to a close, he broke from the topic and slammed Murdoch’s operation as ignorant. Camp: [...]

Sunday AM Coffee

February 24, 2008 · Leave a Comment

Doing my best to wake up with the Sunday talkers and a fresh pot of coffee. Ralph Nader says he’s in the presidential race. That’s likely not good news for the Obama campaign, but also likely not bad ENOUGH to really help Clinton. All the morning shows are busy showing her attack on Obama for the recent mailer that she says doesn’t accurately portray her health care plan or trade policies. She seems to be sincerely angry. My problem with the outburst is the timing. The mailing has been out there for a while. She certainly could have brought it up during this week’s debate, couldn’t she? This is why her campaign is stumbling.

No Entitlement for the Clintons

This is as good an epitaph as any: The Clintons sought to marginalize Obama as a candidate for African Americans. It backfired. African American voters and millions of other Americans aren’t buying what Hillary Clinton is selling. They didn’t regard her presidency as inevitable. Nor did they consider her years as first lady, or her time spent with Little Rock’s Rose Law Firm or her service on Wal-Mart’s board of directors as qualifying her to become the nation’s commander in chief. They recognized the yeast in Hillary Clinton’s résumé. And [... ]
