Military Rape

March 31, 2008 · 1 Comment

Such a sad, sad, testament to the way our military is mismanaged.

Rep Jane Harman: “Women In US Military More Likely To Be Raped By Fellow Soldier Than Killed By Enemy Fire In Iraq”

In today’s LA Times, Rep. Jane Harman (D-CA) sheds light on the staggering number of sexual assaults within the military, stating, “Women serving in the U.S. military are more likely to be raped by a fellow soldier than killed by enemy fire in Iraq,” and calls on Congress and the military to [...]

A Saudi Prince is set to one-up the world.

Saudi Prince Plans Mile-High Tower In The Desert

Plans for a mile-high tower in the desert, which would be twice the height of the world’s tallest building, have been unveiled by the multi-billionaire owner of the Savoy hotel in London. The building, masterminded by British-based engineers, will be constructed in a “mini-city” near the Red Sea port of Jeddah. The project, almost seven times the height of the Canary Wharf tower, will overtake skyscrapers planned or [...]

How Could He?

March 31, 2008 · Leave a Comment

Absolutely gut-wrenching story out of Utah. My mind doesn’t allow me to even begin to understand how someone could do this. There is, as Hutch says, a special place in hell…

Man Throws Dog From Bridge In Utah

Sometimes I wonder why God allows man to continue to dominate this planet when I hear stories like this one. Yesterday, in Salt Lake City Utah a young woman’s dog by the name of ‘Seven’ somehow got out of the back yard and sometime later in the day a man in a red pickup truck was seen throwing ‘Seven’ off of a busy Interstate Highway overpass. What drives [...]

Cash-Strapped

March 31, 2008 · Leave a Comment

The fund-raising activities SEEMED to be going along in good fashion, but the Clinton campaign isn’t acting like a campaign with enough cash.

If Hillary wants your services, get cash up front

From President-in-waiting to deadbeat: Hillary Rodham Clinton’s cash-strapped presidential campaign has been putting off paying hundreds of bills for months — freeing up cash for critical media buys but also earning the campaign a reputation as something of a deadbeat in some small-business circles. A pair of Ohio companies owed more [...]

Iraq Today – The Green Zone

March 31, 2008 · Leave a Comment

Just in case you’ve been under a rock. Or on vacation. Today was NOT a good day in Baghdad.

New Green Zone attacks.

The fortified Green Zone “came under fresh attack Monday, less than 24 hours after anti-American Shiite cleric Muqtada al-Sadr told his fighters to stand down following a week of clashes with government forces.” No serious injuries were reported today, but at least “two Americans working for the U.S. government died in attacks on the zone [...]

The Bobby Kennedy Assassination

March 31, 2008 · Leave a Comment

Over spring break, I did find the time to catch up on a bit of reading.  Got part way through Brokaw’s latest – “The Sixties”.  Interesting read.  And, coincidentally, as he writes about the assassination of Bobby Kennedy, I found updated information on the web, saying it just might have been an inside job. Some of the evidence certainly seems to indicate something’s not right with the “official” investigation.  Surprised?

Evidence That the CIA Murdered RFK

A new BBC documentary supports the conclusion that the CIA planned and executed the assassination of Robert Kennedy. The new video and photographic evidence — the result of a three year long investigation –”puts three senior CIA operatives” at the scene of the murder. “Three of these men have been positively identified as [...]

The Age Factor

Jack Cafferty had an interesting question on his CNN program while I was away.  As always, Jack’s thoughts are great, but it’s what the viewers say that I always find most fascinating!

Age a bigger factor in election than race, gender?

Click the play button to see what Jack and our viewers had to say. FROM CNN’s Jack Cafferty: “While the Democrats sweat it out over how voters perceive race and gender in this election, maybe it’s time for the Republicans to take a look at how Americans feel about electing a [...]

Pretty Much Get Us Up To Date

March 31, 2008 · Leave a Comment

Here, my friends, is a darn good summary of some key events in the past day or so. Complete with some unbelievable video of what happened when the President threw out the first pitch yesterday.

And the beat goes on (Iraq, Clinton & Bush)

April is the cruelest month, but right now I bet the folks living in the Green Zone just want to get out of March: “BAGHDAD (Reuters) – A mortar barrage hit Baghdad’s heavily fortified Green Zone, which houses Iraq’s government and the U.S. embassy, police said, a day after Shi’ite cleric Moqtada al-Sadr ordered his fighters to stand down. The Green Zone has come under intense mortar and rocket attack over the past week as Mehdi Army fighters loyal to Sadr have battled Iraqi and U.S. security forces in the [...]

Back To The Routine

March 31, 2008 · Leave a Comment

We’re back, work schedule resumes, but there are unpacking chores that remain. So, look for a relatively light couple of evenings, posting-wise.

Much of the talk today was money. And the big, new, “improvements” to our nation’s financial system. Wall Street wasn’t instantly impressed, that’s for sure, although things did turn around at midday.

Paulson unveils biggest change since GOP helped create the financial crisis

Start holding your breath for the day that Paulson or the Bush administration bothers to use any powers that they already have to provide oversight. While the financial system needs plenty of improvement this is only a CYA by [...]
