Invitation-Only

Indeed, this would be quite the gathering.  Any bets on whether any of them say “yes”? Ashcroft, maybe, since he wasn’t happy with those White House torture meetings in the first place?

Conyers Invites Ashcroft, Tenet, Feith, and Addington for Hearing on Use of Torture

It would be quite a party. Earlier this week, House Judiciary Committee Chair John Conyers (D-MI) invited John Yoo to testify before the committee on May 6th about the infamous legal memos on torture that he issued while with the [...]

Saturday Video

April 12, 2008 · No Comments

I don’t often stay up late enough to watch the Daily Show, so online clips are a blessing. (Yeah, I know, it’s not THAT late.  Still, I’ve gotten into the habit of an early bedtime and it’s tough to break our routine). This one is a gem, a REAL gem.

Daily Show: The Rise and Fall of FOX News

Eights months ago, I said that this was the best Daily Show clip I’ve seen in a while. Well, Thursday night Jon Stewart and Jon Oliver out-did themselves. I present to you…The Rise and Fall of FOX News….If there was ever a six minute video [...]

CBS News and Katie

April 12, 2008 · No Comments

If you haven’t been following it, there was a flurry of reports this past week that all had Katie Couric leaving CBS after the election, long before the end of her contract.  The journalistic soap opera took another turn late yesterday, with a report that (if that happens) CBS may drop the entire newscast!

CBS Will Probably Cancel “Evening News” Altogether After Couric Leaves: Report

According to TMZ, Katie Couric will leave CBS on her own terms and the network will likely cancel the “Evening News” altogether. Further, TMZ reiterates earlier reports that it is Couric who is frustrated with the situation that is not what she was promised when [...]

Rigging The Vote

April 12, 2008 · No Comments

Welcome, my friends, to an early Saturday morning. At least that’s what it is around here.  Grab a cup of coffee and dig in.  We’ll see how far I can get before I have to settle down and start the real work of the day.  We’re starting with a great post from Brad Friedman, the best in the business at keeping track of those pesky electronic voting machines.

Former AL Gov. Don Siegelman Says Media Ignoring Details of His ‘Electronically Stolen’ 2002 Election

Still paging Dan Abrams… The following email comes from Mark Crispin Miller, NYU media professor, and author of the landmark election integrity book, FOOLED AGAIN. It includes an email exchange from yesterday with the finally-free-on-bond former Democratic Governor of Alabama Don Seigelman, concerning his allegations that his 2002 election was electronically [...]
