The Madam’s Suicide

May 2, 2008 · No Comments

The conspiracy folks are having a big time with the “suicide” of The D.C. Madam. What do you think?  Something more to it?

The Lede: Skepticism After Death of ‘D.C. Madam’

Across the Internet, scoffing at the initial police judgment that Deborah Jeane Palfrey committed suicide, and insistence that she must have had more names to name [...]

Negative Coverage

May 2, 2008 · No Comments

It seems to many that the American Press developed some type of “love affair” with Barack Obama.  It seems the shine is coming off the campaign and some of the reporting is finding negatives to showcase.

Jeremiah Wright Can’t Be Explained Away, and the American People KNOW What’s Wrong

The numbers are devastating for Obama, and it’s clear that a fatigued Obama — deep down inside — knows it too, even as he portrays himself and his wife as ever the victims who somehow made it anyway: Barack Obama was showing signs of campaign fatigue. Sitting on a picnic bench in a park on Pagoda [...]

Finally!  I had to dig and dig, but finally found one to make all of us feel just a little bit better about things.

A Peak? Gas Prices Slip On Friday

Retail gas prices fell slightly Friday _ the first time in 18 days they haven’t risen to a new record _ and analysts say pump prices may be peaking for the year. Oil futures, meanwhile, soared after Turkish airstrikes on Kurdish rebel bases in Iraq injected some supply concerns into the market and the Labor Department’s employment report gave investors reason to be optimistic about [...]

Illegal Propaganda?

May 2, 2008 · No Comments

The question is being asked.  The answer is needed. If not illegal, it’s certainly WRONG!

Top Democrat: Investigate “Potentially Illegal” Military Propaganda Program

One of Congress’ leading progressive figures sent a harsh letter to the Department of Defense on Friday demanding an investigation into reports of an “extensive propaganda program” involving the Pentagon, network news outlets, and military analysts. Rep. Rosa Delauro (D-CT) and 39 other members of Congress are calling on [...]

Not Playing Fairly

I know politics can be dirty, but this is just wrong.

Indiana Slur Video Is Conspiracy

The wingnuts and Obamabots in the blogosphere were abuzz this morning about a video clip from the movie “The War Room,” of Mickey Kantor, a former Clinton advisor, purportedly saying derogatory things about the residents of Indiana. The clip has been doctored. According to D.A. Pennebaker, the director of “The War Room,” the clip from his film “had been doctored” [...]

The firings continue.  Another day.  Another chapter.

Whitehouse: EPA Regulator Firing Resembles U.S. Attorney Firings

It’s not the first time that the politicization of the Environmental Protection Agency has forced comparisons to Alberto Gonzales’ Justice Department, and it surely won’t be the last. On the Senate floor this afternoon, Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI), who sits [...]

McCain’s Problem

May 2, 2008 · No Comments

It’s really quite obvious that he’s not doing enough to solve it.

McCain doesn’t know how to ‘distance himself’ from Bush

A couple of weeks ago, the Politico’s Jonathan Martin reported that a key aspect of John McCain’s general-election strategy is to “drive a triangulated contrast among himself, the Democratic nominee and President Bush.” Reuters reports today that we’re starting to get a sense of what this strategy looks like in practice. Slowly but surely, Republican presidential candidate [...]

How bad is it out there?  Pretty darn bad.

Joe Canseco Loses Home To Foreclosure

RAW STORY: San Diego GOP Chair Revealed as Infamous International Software Hacker

Any job applicant knows that background checks are routine – especially for jobs involving authority or oversight of money. Rough Day

May 2, 2008 · No Comments

Both Bush and McCain had a rough day Thursday.

Bush Rejected by Methodists 844-20

The Bush Library is set to be located at Southern Methodist University, but nobody asked the Methodists outside of SMU, and they are not approving, by a vote of 844-20. At the same time, almost exactly, a Baptist Minister confronted John McCain at a townhall meeting about his treatment of his wife. McCain ducked the question [...]

Finally. Friday.

May 2, 2008 · No Comments

Whew.  Deep breath.  It’s here.  We’re through the workday. And, what a workday it was.  Our state got pummeled by bad weather.  Again. Little Rock was mostly spared this round, although it was close. At least seven people died. One small community was hit so hard police have completely shut down access to it.

The weekend is ahead.

And the feds, apparently, have a bit of trouble understanding “inflation”.

Your Lying Wallet

…Polls show that inflation worries Americans more than jobs, the stock market, or declining house prices. This Fed has proven itself either willfully deceptive about inflation, or incapable of forecasting it. And some want to [...]
