Again.  Houston, we have a problem….

Second Arkansas Election Overturned in a Week Due to ES&S Voting Machine Failure…

Please pay attention, people. Another race, the second in a week, has now been over-turned in Arkansas due to failures of the ES&S voting machines (here was the other we reported earlier in the week). Says the candidate who ended up losing in the very-low turnout race after the ES&S machine failure [...]

Warren Buffett is, at least, willing to acknowledge it.

Buffett sees “long, deep” U.S. recession

The United States is already in a recession and it will be longer as well as deeper than many people expect, U.S. investor Warren Buffett said in an interview published in German magazine Der Spiegel on Saturday. He said the United States was “already in [...]

Election Malfunctions

And, once again, Arkansas makes the headlines. Amazingly, this hasn’t made the big media outlets, only the small, local, newspaper. And The Brad Blog.

Massive (And Wholly Predictable) ES&S Touch-screen Failures in Arkansas and West Virginia

As God is my witness, there will be blood…okay, hopefully not blood…but massive Election Disasters this November. Disasters which might have, should have, could have, otherwise been averted had Election Officials bothered to actually read this blog every couple of days over the last four years, and done a damned [...]

The NAFTA Superhighway

May 24, 2008 · Leave a Comment

You know the one.  Lou Dobbs keeps talking about it. The government keeps saying it’s a myth. I’m afraid I have to side with Washington on this one – it’s something cooked up by somebody who took a couple of proposals, tied them together and put a big bow on top.

Dobbs Crumbles When Pressed On His ‘NAFTA Super Highway’ Myth: ‘I Reject You!’

Last Wednesday, Media Matters Action Network issued a report, which found that cable news commentators Lou Dobbs, Bill O’Reilly, and Glenn Beck regularly “serve up a steady diet of fear, anger, and resentment on the topic of illegal immigration.” Last night on his CNN show, an edgy Lou Dobbs hosted Media Matters fellow Paul Waldman [...]

You really do. You try to take care of yourself and your family by smearing sunscreen all over your bodies. It blocks the sun’s harmful rays.  Now we’re told that it does something else.

Sun screen lotion threatens coral: study

Holiday Weekend

May 24, 2008 · Leave a Comment

It’s Saturday morning and a holiday weekend here in the states. That means I’ll probably be spending more time with family things than kicking around here. Stop by whenever you get a chance – we’ll certainly try to chase down the big stuff and make sure you’re aware of it.

I find myself fascinated by the way even the Conservative bloggers are piling on John McCain for an ever-growing list of issues:

McCain Hates “Obscene Profits” And Would Be Willing To Look At A Windfall Profits Tax

…Someone should ask McCain the following questions: How much profit does it take before the level of “obscene” is reached? Why should the government  [...]

Speaking of gas prices:

Energy Expert: $12 and $15 per gallon gas not far away

On CNBC’s Squawk Box Tuesday, energy analyst Robert Hirsch warned that $4.00 per gallon gasoline will be viewed in the not-so-distant future as “the good old days” because $12 and $15 per gallon is not far away…Business and Media: “[T]he prices that we’re paying at the pump today are, I [...]
