Get that credit/debit card ready. It’s scary out there.
Pain At The Pump Retrospective: How Gas Prices Soared During The Bush Administration
On Sunday, the national average price for a gallon of gas reached a new, previously unthinkable milestone of $4.00/gallon. Americans are struggling — and drivers in some parts of the US are spending up to 16% of their income on fuel. But we didn’t just wake up one morning to find gas prices this high. [...]

So much for the latest round of airline price hikes. Now, if the gasoline industry would just follow suit..
Major Airlines’ Weekend Fare Increases Rolled Back
A number of major airlines rolled back a weekend fare increase Monday, the first time in more than half a dozen attempts that a widespread price hike failed to take hold across the struggling industry. Carriers declined to say whether the shift signaled concerns about falling customer demand. Still, [...]

Obama Has moved into the lead, over McCain. And the lead is not insignificant.
Clinton Helps Obama To A 9-Point Lead Over McCain
Note that in the most recent Gallup tracking poll, taken Friday-Sunday, Obama has now pulled out to a 6-point lead over McCain nationally, 48%-42% among registered voters. Also note something else: over the last three days, when Hillary is added to the ticket, that lead moves up to [...]

That seems to be the attitude floating around the Bush Administration. That’s what we’re hearing from Israel, at least.
After meeting with Bush, Olmert hints U.S. action against Iran is near.
The Israeli press reported last week that during a recent meeting, Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert was to urge President Bush to prepare an attack on Iran. The White House has not commented extensively on the meeting, but Israeli press are reporting today that Olmert has “hinted” that “U.S. action against Iran is imminent“: Prime Minister [...]

Both candidates, McCain and Obama, are giving moderated townhall discussions a “thumbs down”. That says a lot about their distrust of the media.
Ezra Klein coments on the fact that neither Obama nor McCain has any interest in allowing the press to moderate their proposed series of townhall meetings:This is possibly the first time in memory that the media’s actually suffered for [...]

Stormy Monday
June 9, 2008 · Leave a Comment
Storm clouds back in Arkansas this Monday afternoon. And articles like this one trashing John McCain aren’t going to do much to boost his campaign. Some will discount it, saying it’s from the U.K. It looks to me like the comments from McCain’s first wife are solid. She’s obviously not a happy camper, but her tale justifies her feelings. Assuming, of course, that her version is accurate.
Huge article from the Daily Mail: “McCain likes to illustrate his moral fibre by referring to his five years as a prisoner-of-war in Vietnam. And to demonstrate his commitment to family values, the 71-year-old former US Navy pilot pays warm tribute to his beautiful blonde wife, Cindy, with whom he has four children. But there is another Mrs McCain who casts a ghostly shadow over the Senator’s presidential campaign. She is seldom seen and [...]
